Capiceņos among 16,000 promoted PNP personnel

Roxas City (4 February) -- More than 16,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were recently promoted to the next higher rank.
In an online news, PNP Director General Jesus Verzosa led the nationwide simultaneous oath-taking and pinning of ranks of 16,052 promoted PNP personnel.
Verzosa said that the big number of promotions only translates to an increased "professional aptitude and proficiency" in the police force.
In his speech, Verzosa reminded the police of their utmost responsibility to serve and protect with an opportunity to touch people's lives and influence the public to be better citizens.
On the other hand, PNP Spokesman Nicanor Bartolome said that a total of 28,794 promotional vacancies were available for filling up and the promotion of police personnel to the next higher rank is part of the Regular Promotion Program in 2008.
He revealed that some 1,232 police commissioned officers (PCOs) and 14,891 non-commissioned officers has taken their oath of office.
In Capiz, a number of policemen were promoted to the next higher rank in the recent regular promotion program of the PNP.
In Roxas City PNP alone, a total of 22 PNP members were promoted, including Police Chief Inspector Leo Batiles, current Roxas City chief of police, who is promoted to police superintendent. (PIA) [top]
