GSIS works to perfect new database system

by Rachelle M. Nessia

Dumaguete City (5 February) -- The General Service Insurance System (GSIS) is working double time to reconcile the records of its members and update the system's database.

GSIS last year adopted the Systems Applications Program (SAP) that will support all its transactions at its Wireless Processing System kiosk or G-W@PS kiosk.

Risty Villahermosa of GSIS here said that when GSIS migrated to the new system, some records from the old database dropped. "So the management decided that we have to repost all payments made by members from July 1997 to September 2007," he said.

Villahermosa said the local GSIS office has already finished reposting data from 2002 to 2007 and they are now working on 2001 down to 1997.

"Those we finished, we sent it to GSIS Manila for authentication and final loading into the new system. Once it's loaded, we can see there the payments and we can then reconcile the differences in the data," he explained.

Villerhmosa disclosed that they reconcile members' data per agency. "We have a unit now that goes to each agency and attends to reconciling the records," he said.

Individual queries of GSIS members should be coursed through their respective agency's liaison officers, he stressed. (PIA/rmn) [top]
