DOT 8 facilitates production of Eastern Visayas brochure maps
Tacloban City (February 11) -- In line with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Super Region concept of development wherein Central Philippines to which Eastern Visayas belongs, is being eyed to become the Tourism Center of the country, the Department of Tourism in Eastern Visayas is coming up with an Eastern Visayas brochure maps.
DOT Region 8 Director Karen Tiopes informed that a team is currently conducting an "eyes-on" inspection and map area validation on the Eastern Visayas brochure map.
Director Tiopes said that DOT has requested the assistance of the Philippine Information Agency in the photo documentation of landmarks, destinations, sites and other tourism assets of the Region.
This week, the team is conducting meetings and ocular inspections in the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte and Biliran. Ocular inspections will be conducted in Baybay, Palompon, Ormoc City in Leyte; Maasin, Padre Burgos dive resorts, Pintuyan, Hinunangan, all in Southern Leyte; and Naval in Biliran.
The team will also take time to have site inspection at the municipalities along the Mahalika Highway, a team member, intimated.
The Eastern Visayas brochure maps will be produced with the reader-friendly format. The contents will be arranged in such a way that allows tourists to see at a glance what is being offered in specific places.
The Eastern Visayas brochure maps will surely help boost the tourism industry in Region 8. The way people make vacation decisions today is totally different than it used to be. People want to know what they can see and do when they get to their destination that is going to enrich their lives and their families' lives.
