Manila (12 February) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo inspected a pharmacy that sells generic drugs near Malacaņang on Febr. 12 and at the same time interacted with some of the pharmacy's beneficiaries.
The inspection was in line with the Arroyo's administration's efforts to bring affordable medicines to poor Filipinos.
The President inspected the facilities, medical stocks and prices of the Generic Pharmacy at Nagtahan corner JP Laurel Street in Manila together with officials of concerned agencies such as the Department of Health and the Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC).
PITC, in its website, said that it was designated as a key agency in the implementation of the President's 10-Point Legacy Program, which includes reducing the prices of essential medicines by 50 percent by year 2010.
The Genercis Pharmacy, on the other hand, says it has been importing and wholesaling pharmaceutical products since 1959. (PIA) [top]
