NSO, LCROs celebrate Civil Registration Month

Negros Occidental (16 February) -- The National Statistics Office along with the various Local Civil Registrar Offices celebrate the Civil Registration Month this February.

The celebration is in pursuant to Proclamation Number 682 issued by then President Corazon Aquino on January 28, 1991.

This year's theme is "Civil Registration: Key to Global Opportunities".

Activities in all field offices of NSO and LCROs are lined up for the celebration. In Negros Occidental, an information and education campaign to create awareness of the celebration and the thrusts of the respective offices. A civil registration quiz was also conducted.

One of the most important under taking of the provincial office is the holding of the mobile registration. The mobile registration aims to bring to the people the civil registration to the people and to create awareness about the importance of registering vital events, such as births, marriages and deaths.

In Bacolod City and other municipalities in the province, mass weddings were also held as a trademark in celebration of the civil registration month.

Provincial Statistics Officer Fred Sollesta together with the different Civil Registrars of the province is enjoining the public to participate in the celebration of Civil Registration Month. (NSO/PIA/EAD) [top]
