Kabankalan City hosts writing contest
Negros Occidental (18 February) -- A total of 357 campus journalists joined the Division Schools Press Conference sponsored by the DepEd-Kabankalan held at the ERAMS-West gym recently.
The participants came from 19 secondary and 12 elementary public schools. Joining in were one elementary and two secondary private schools. The confab was declared officially open by Eugene Lucerna, Administrative Officer V.
Resource speakers were Hernando Demejillo, a retired school paper adviser of "The Victorian", the official publication of Victorias National High School.
Demejillo was an awardee as Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser in the regional and national levels. The other resource person is Sherryl Mae Grace Idquila, a mass communication graduate of UNO-R and a frequent judge in photojournalism, editorial cartooning and radio broadcasting contests. She was once worked with GMA Super Radyo.
Students vied in the contests for news writing, sports writing, feature writing, editorial writing, editorial cartooning, photojournalism, copyreading and headline writing with the addition of radio broadcasting. (Kabankalan City/PIA/EAD) [top]
