BJMP conducts blood-letting activity

Manila (9 March) -- The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology National Headquarters (BJMP-NHQ) in coordination with the Philippine Heart Center led 3 other regional units in a blood-letting activity Saturday at the Center for Restorative Activities, Development and Learning Experiences (CRADLE), Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig, Metro Manila.
245 BJMP personnel showed up for the activity of which 118 of them had their plasma extracted collecting 53.1 liters of the life sustaining liquid.
Jail Chief, J/Director Rosendo M Dial said that the activity was in compliance with R.A. 7719 otherwise known as the National Blood Act Services of 1994 which provides continuous donation of voluntary blood donation program to ensure adequate human blood supply.
"This program also offers diagnostic opportunity in the early detection and treatment of diseases among our donor-personnel," Director Dial added.
The blood-letting which was timed for the birthday celebration of the Bureau Chief aimed to shore up the plasma supply of the Philippine Heart Center, the collecting agency, and instill among jail personnel the value of life saving lives.
