Project REY recognizes scholars
Davao City (24 March) -- Once again, the Project Reading Empowers Youth (REY) conducts a weeklong recognition program to the nineteen (19) Elementary School in the Division of Tagum with a total of Five Hundred Seventy (570) REY Scholars last March 10-19, 2009 with a theme "My Education: My Contribution to Future" (Edukasyon Ko: Handog ko sa Kinabukasan).
During the recognition program, different awards were given to the successful scholars as Good Reader, Improved Reader, Excellent Attendance, Good Attendance, Improved Kid, Cheerful Kid, Creative Kid, Punctual Kid, Well-Groomed Kid, Helpful Kid, Important Kid and Give Me 5 Kid.
The Project Reading Empowers Youth (REY) through the leadership of Mayor Rey T. Uy serves as the City Government's holistic approach to re-enforce the needs of the Department of Education in our educational system through convergence of resources from the public to private individual/organizations thus serve as a partnership ministry and a volunteer incarnate project.
The project focuses on the identified non-readers (NR's) from the different elementary school in the Division of City of Tagum. They will undergo special sessions in reading for one hour every day when the project commences under the auspices of a reading specialist (RS's) who will teach them to be more confident readers in particular and as a human person in general.
