Convergence 2009 kicks off at Sta Rosa City, Laguna
Sta. Rosa City (10 July) -- An Information and Communication Technology road show dubbed as "Convergence 2009" will commence at Sta. Rosa City, Laguna on July 10-11, 2009.
The road show is aimed at pursuing the objectives of ICT development in the country along the four strategic areas: Cyberservices, Human Capital, eGovernment, and ICT Infrastructure, according to the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT).
The two-day road show will highlight key programs like BPO-IT Career Caravan, Community eCenter Program, BizSpark, Service Science Management and Engineering, eSkwela, iSchools, Creative Content Development Project, Nettop ng Bayan, eLGU, eBayad and eSerbisyo The key programs will be featured in the plenary and break-out track sessions, exhibits, call center job simulation, career assessments and jobs fair.
Expected participants gathering during the road show are students, teaching professionals, schools administrators, graduates, parents, private sector, practitioners, potential investors, career shifters, returning OFWs, retirees, IT entrepreneurs, Local Government Units, and other stakeholders.
After Sta. Rosa City (Metro Laguna July 10-11), the road show will proceed to the other cities that topped the ICT "Next Wave Cities" based on the results of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP)-CICT-DTI Next Wave Cities' Scorecard. The other cities aside from Metro Laguna are Metro Cavite (July 24-25), Iloilo (Nov. 27-28), Davao (Aug. 7-8), Bacolod (Sept. 11-12), Angeles-Clark-Mabalacat Pampanga Central (Nov. 6-7), Baliuag-Marilao-Meycauayan (Aug. 14-15), and Mega Cebu (Aug. 28-29). The "Next Wave Cities" have been identified as viable locations for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
