Ifugao women lead World Population Day celebration

Lagawe, Ifugao (10 July) -- Taking the lead in this year's celebration of World Population Day, women who are considered survivors or excelled in their field of professions shared their thoughts and experiences.
Provincial Population Officer Ms. Miriam Baguidudol said this significant occasion which was supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 6th Country Programme convened advocates, leaders and parents.
With the theme "Responding to the economic crisis: investing in women is a smart choice", Baguidudol said that the participants discussed issues and raised awareness on the importance of investing on women/girls such as education and health that has a bearing on women's productivity.
With about 100 participants from all over the province, the speakers discussed issues on women in governance by Hingyon Vice Mayor Lolita Habbiling, women and education by Dr. Faith Basilio, Vice President of the academic Affairs of the Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF) and women and entrepreneurship by Ms Grace Albino and Ms Magdalena Murla, both from the business sector.
The sharings were responded to by the Mr. Clarence Polic, President of the 3 Legislative Population Health and Environment Development; Ms Dominga Lunag, Administrative Officer of ISCAF Lagawe Campus; Mary Cabbigat, President of the elected Lady Legislators League; Vice Governor Nora Dinamling, and Governor Teddy Baguilat for the Provincial Local Government Unit.
