Tagalog News: PGMA pinasinayaan ang multi-milyong programa sa saging sa Davao City

Koronadal City (5 January) -- Pinasisinayaan kaninang umaga ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang isang limandaang milyong pisong development program para sa industriya ng saging sa lungsod ng Davao.

Ang programang Saba Banana Integrated Development Program na pinangungunahan ng Department of Trade and Industry ay nilalayong magpo-proseso ng saging na saba bilang microwavable chips, fries at rolls para sa local at export market.

Ayon sa Sagrex Food Incorporated na mamamahala sa nasabing programa, malaki ang pangangailangan ng Estados Unidos, Canada, at Middle East para sa produktong saging na saba. Balak din ng Sagrex Food Incorporated na pasukin ang merkado ng Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, at Australia.

Tinatayang kikita ng labindalawang milyong dolyar ang industriya ng saging bawat taon.

Upang matiyak na may sapat na supply ng saba, kinokontrata ng Sagrex Food Incorporated ang mahigit apat na raang magsasaka ng saging. Isang tissue culture laboratory at nursery na rin ang itinayo bilang suporta sa development program.

Ang isang magsasaka na may dalawang hektaryang sagingan ay maaaring kikita ng mahigit tatlong daan at animnapung libong piso bawat taon. (DEDoguies/PIA12) [top]
