Metrobank Foundation urges 'Schools in the Barrios' to join search for outstanding teachers
Tuguegarao City (6 January) -- The Metrobank Foundation Inc. has encouraged school heads in the barrios to submit nominations in the 2010 Search for Outstanding Teachers.
Mr. Emil Tapio, Production Assistant of Metrobank Foundation Inc., said the search is not only for the schools in the city or in the first class municipalities, it is open for all but only a are few participating from the far flung areas.
Tapio said school principals and university/college presidents must not hesitate to nominate deserving teachers to the prestigious search from their campuses because it is a great honor and opportunity not only to the teacher but also to the school to be given due recognition.
"In the past years, we already have 286 awardees, but few came from barrio schools that is why we encourage them to join," Tapio said.
He also stated that there are potential and qualified teachers teaching in small schools who achieved greater accomplishments than those who are teaching in big schools.
Tapio mentioned that in the search last year, a barrio school teacher was one among the awardees in the national level who showed exemplary competence, remarkable dedication to her work and effective leadership.
The 2010 Search for Outstanding Teachers bestows honor upon the teaching profession by according special recognition to teachers who manifest profound commitment to the development of the youth.
The nomination is open to full time teachers in the elementary, secondary and higher education levels from both private and public schools, who have been actively teaching in ten years.
The nominations can be submitted to any Metrobank branch up to February 15, 2010 and the recognition of winners will be done on August 30 to September 3, 2010. The trophy, medal, certificates and cash prizes will be conferred by the President of the Republic of the Philippines to the winners. (Oliver B./PIA 2) [top]
