'AAGAPAY' Movement launched to help marginalized poor of Region 2
Tuguegarao City (13 January) -- Officials from different government and non-government organizations have launched the objectives of the "Alalay at Gabay sa Pag-unlad ng Pamayanan" or Aagapay movement in Cagayan Valley Region to build bridges between the government and the people.
Mr. Ruben Guevarra, Executive Council Member from the National Council, said the movement aims to unify the nation and strengthen the spiritual beliefs of everyone to attain a progressive country.
The Aagapay is a multi-sectoral movement, composed of officers and members from the different government sectors, churches and non-government organizations that aim to uplift the living condition of the people by helping them meet their needs.
"Our mandate is to look for linkages in resolving the identified problems of the people, especially the poor by tapping the services of government agencies that could help them and to bring them nearer to God to strengthen their beliefs..." Guevarra explained.
He said through the aid of different government agencies that have funds on livelihood assistance, the Aagapay movement will endorse some beneficiaries to be able to be given a priority in getting livelihood assistance. This is also through education programs and other services that the government could offer to people depending on their needs.
Aagapay movement have focused its objectives in helping the people on what are their needs, strengthening their spiritual beliefs and winning back the thrust of the people in the government and enjoy their benefits.
Guevvara also stated that the initiators of the movement are the military officials of the government through the assistance of different linkages in the other government entities. (Oliver B./PIA 2) [top]
