NVizcaya mayor vows help for fisheries council

by Ben Moses Ebreo

Solano, Nueva Vizcaya (January 13) -- Mayor Phillip Dacayo here recently pledged assistance to fisheries development efforts in this town.

Dacayo has vowed to provide 25 bicycles for volunteers of the Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC) as part of their efforts to guard inland bodies of water against illegal fishing and to monitor on-going project within their communities such the need for distribution of seeds, rice, vegetables, corn and other post-harvest facilities.

"Our MAFC volunteers are community-based workers who are more knowledgeable on the proper projects that can be undertaken and implemented within their barangays. Therefore, these bicycles will serve them well," said Esmeralda Alejandro, municipal agriculture technologist and MAFC coordinator.

The bicycles are embodied in the MAFC resolution which was approved by Dacayo Tuesday (January 12) during the MAFC's post-christmas celebration.

Alejandro added that the assistance are very useful in terms of mobility, less expensive and beneficial to the volunteers' health.

She said various irrigation projects were also pledged by Dacayo among farmers in this town to improve and raise their agricultural productivity.

MAFC volunteers serve as force multipliers of the Department of Agriculture (DA) who also recommends the needed agriculture and fishery programs and projects in their respective communities. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
