TESDA 10 unveils major accomplishments in 2009

Cagayan de Oro City (14 January) -- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Director for region 10 Edwin C. Gatinao presented their annual Year-End report for the year 2009 during the Media Forum at Cha-li Beach Resort, this city.
Among the major accomplishments mentioned during the forum was the number of graduates who availed the Pangulong Gloria Scholarship program (PGS).
It was reported that there were 17,119 PGS graduates who benefitted from this program last year and 20% of these are employed.
Of the total PGS beneficiaries, there are 3,237 from Bukidnon, 747 in Camiguin, 3,521 in Lanao del Norte, 2,887 in Misamis Occidental and 6,527 in Misamis Oriental.
For the enterprise-based training, the Kasanayan sa Hanapbuhay program (KASH) has 7,357 number of apprentices in 2009. Meanwhile, for skills assessment, Gatinao said that the certification rate is 83% with 23, 979 persons assessed and 19,877 persons certified.
From January to December 2009, TESDA has produced 17,635 employed graduates who availed in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET). Meanwhile, there were 14,718 persons profiled through Youth Profiling for Starring Careers (YP4SC), a guidance delivery system which aids students to make the right career choices using an objective assessment of their strengths and interests.
Gatinao concluded that TESDA 10 will continue to improve on their regional targets for the year 2010 by offering various scholarships and trainings. (PIA 10) [top]
