Mandaluyong poor receives food packs
Manila (15 January) -- Poor residents of five barangays in Mandaluyong City had a late Christmas with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo playing Santa Claus at the covered court in Barangay Hulo.
Some 3,000 residents of Barangay Barangka Drive, Barangka Itaas, Barangka Ilaya, Barangka Ibaba, and Hulo were given food packs, containing rice, instant noodles, canned goods, and juice concentrates each.
The President held the gift-giving event under Serbisyo Caravan, a joint project by the Departments of Social Welfare and Development, Foreign Affairs, Transportation and Communication, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Yesterday, the President distributed gift packs to some 5,000 poor residents at the covered court of Barangay 28, Zone 3, in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City.
The gift packs consisted of rice, canned goods, noodles, and sugar. The recipients were from 31 barangays of Zones 1, 2 and 3 in the second district of the city. (PIA) [top]
