Tagalog News: GDP tumaas ng 1% sa huling quarter ng 2009, ayon sa NEDA

Manila (15 January) -- Ini-ulat ng opisyal ng National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) na mayroong pagtaas sa ekonomiya ng bansa sa huling quarter ng taong 2009 dahil umano sa malakas na consumer spending at mas mataas na revenue collection.

Ayon kay acting Socio-Economic Planning secretary Augusto B. Santos ang ating ekonomiya na sinusukat ng gross domestic product (GDP) ay tumaas ng 1% sa huling quarter ng nakaraang taon, na mas mataas sa naunang estimate na 0.9% dahil sa masiglang economic activity sa bansa.

Itinuturing ni Santos ang pagtaas sa GDP na base sa napaulat na mataas na revenue collection ng Bureau Of Internal Revenue (BIR) noong Disyembre, ang mataas na consumer spending sa panahon ng kapaskuhan at ang mga election related spending.

Samantala, nagpahayag rin ng projections ang Asian Development Bank (ADB) na magiging matatag ang economic growth ng Pilipinas ngayong taon at sa susunod na taon batay umano sa muling pagsigla ng local at external demands. Batay sa kanilang report na pinamagatang "Impact and Policy Responses: Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand," inilahad ng ADB na magiging maganda ang prospects para sa Philippine economy.
