Tagalog News: Task force na tutulong sa rescue efforts sa Haiti, binuo ni Pangulong Arroyo

Manila (15 January) -- Inutos kahapon ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang pagbuo ng isang task force sa loob ng Philippine Contingent sa Haiti upang tumulong sa search and rescue at relief efforts para sa mga Pilipinong naapektuhan ng llindol sa Haiti.

Sa ulat ni DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Esteban Conejos, sinabi nito na kumikilos na ang isang task force sa pangunguna ni Philippine Ambassor to Cuba MacArthur Corsino at ng Honorary Consulate ng Pilipinas sa Port-au-Prince. Dagdag pa ni Conejos, ang task force ay binubuo ng mga Pilipinong sundalo at peacekeepers sa Haiti.

Ayon sa Embahada ng Pilipinas sa Havana, merong 290 na Pilipino sa Haiti. Karamihan sa kanila ay nagtatrabaho sa garment industry, telecommunications, at power generation sector.

Niyanig ng 7.0 magnitude na lindol ang Haiti nitong Martes. Tinatayang aabot sa kalahating milyon ang nasawi sa nasabing lindol. (DE Doguiles/PIA 12) [top]
