PDEA drives hard against illegal drug pushers
Baguio City (16 January) -- The national government, through the directive of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, is stepping up its drive in achieving a drug-free society.
In the year-end Cabinet meeting at the Mansion House last December 29, 2009, the President ordered the public burning of 195 bricks of high-grade cocaine with a street value of P5 Billion, which was recently recovered from the shores of Eastern and Northern Samar. This is one way of helping realize this shared dream of a drug-free Philippines.
"To see such high grade illegal merchandise, go up in flames would be a moral boost and a psychic lift to those who have spent their lives fighting the menace of dangerous drugs. It would be the revenge of the righteous against drug syndicates," the President said.
Taking cue from the President, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR further stepped-up its campaigns against illegal drug personalities in the region arresting seven drug pushers/personalities in the last two weeks.
PDEA agents arrested Carlos Quipse Catacutan, 57 years old and George Cabasa y Ramirez, 53 years old, both listed in the Watch List of Drug personalities in Cordillera, in a buy-bust operation at the Military Cut-off, Baguio City evening of December 30.

On January 4, two more shabu pushers were successively arrested in two separate buy-bust operations in Baguio City and La Trinidad Benguet, Arrested were Patricio Parroca y Rivera, native of Sto Rosario La Union and Cesar Daiwey y Pelayo, of Concepcion Tarlac.
Last January 7, PDEA agents apprehended Ronaldo Resontoc Vallejo, a resident of Bagumbong, Caloocan City, in an anti-drug buy-bust operation at Upper Quezon Hill, Baguio City, where he sold two heat-sealed transparent sachets containing four grams of shabu, with a street value of P40,000 to a poseur-buyer PDEA agent. In a separate operation at around 11pm, PDEA agents arrested Joseph Aquino Resureccion Sr., 56, married, jobless, high school graduate and resident of #25 San Luis Village. Ressureccion Sr, a known member of a notorious local drug group, ranks 10th in the Target List of Drug personalities.
Individual cases for violation of section 5 and section 11, of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being filed against the arrested drug personalities. Meanwhile, the seized dangerous drugs, confiscated from the arrested suspects, were brought to the PNP Regional Crime Laboratory for legal documentation. Lito Dar(PIA) [top]
