Mt Province school board approves P2-M special education fund

Bontoc, Mt. Province (16 January) -- The provincial government continues its full support to help promote the program for quality education by providing financial assistance as much as it can afford.

The Provincial School Board here approved the 2010 budget for the Special Education Fund (SEF) amounting to P2,004,278.90.

With the province's goal of eradicating illiteracy, the School Board allotted the biggest chunk of the budget amounting to P600,000 for the honoraria of Alternative Learning system (ALS) facilitators and other teaching services.

With the continuous and successful implementation of the Alternative Learning System here, the province's literacy has increased.

A total amount of P540,000 from the SEF was also appropriated for school activities such as Super Quiz Bee P50,000, Sci-DAMATH P50,000, DAMATH P P50,000, Math Fair and Quiz P50,000, Science Fair and Quiz P50,000Press Conference P100,000, Read-A-Thon P30,000, NAMCYA/SAYAWIT P50,000, Rizal Quiz Bee P50,000, and STEP Competition P60,000.

The amount allotted to these activities will be used for meals for participation in the division level and travel expense for participation in the Regional level.

Other activities funded under this SEF include honoraria of three MISOSA Para-Teachers for June 2010 March 2011 P40,000, Survey of school sites P20,000, Aid to delegation to the Provincial Meet P25,000,Treasury Tax Projects and Programs P95,000, Literacy Cum Livelihood Training and Competition P80,000, Farmer's Field School P10,000, and CARAA Aid P 120,000, other miscellaneous expenses P174,278, and other services P300,000.
