La Trinidad, Benguet (23 January) -- Like employees of other local government units, close to 1000 workers of the Provincial government of Benguet will receive an increased salaries starting this January.

The same EO also mandates that local government units will implement the SSL-3 in four years or more depending on the capability of the LGU with the first tranche implementation on January 1, 2010.

The SSL-3 in the national government will be implemented in four tranches with the first installment in July 2009 and end on 2012. The national government allocated some P18.4 Billion for the first adjustment in pay of its 1.141 state workers.

For LGUs, their respective Sungguniang will determine salary rates adjustment based on their income class and financial capability and shall not exceed the Personal Service Limitation of their local government budgets.

The SSL-3 is the third salary adjustment implemented by the government. The first was in 1989 and the second in 1994. (PIA) [top]
