AFP plane crashes in Cotabato City; 8 feared dead

Update: 3 houses burned, 1 missing, 1 fireman in critical condition, 1 in shock

Cotabato City (28 January) -- An Air Force nomad plane is reported to have crashed shortly before noon today in an urban poor area at Rosary Heights, this city. All 7 persons aboard are feared dead as the plane is a total wreck.

Sketchy reports reaching PIA Cotabato City said the plane took off from Awang Airport and was bound for Zamboanga City. It came from Eastmincom, Davao City.

Update:

Three houses were burned, 1 person is reported missing, an unidentified fireman is in critical condition, while one dela Gamiton is in a state of shock as a result of the crash.

It was reported that LtGen Mario Lacson of the 3rd Air Wing Division, Andrews Airbase in Zamboanga City; a lady pilot; and another lady Air Force officer were among the 8 aboard the aircraft who all died.

Some people who saw the incident said they noticed the plane having a hard time ascending before crashing. (PIA 12) [top]
