Health service providers undergo training in communication and counseling
Bacolod City (28 January) -- About 26 nurses and midwives from ten pilot local government units in Negros Occidental attended the three-day Interpersonal Communicating and Counseling Training, January 27-29, 2010, held at Westown Hotel, Bacolod City.
The ten identified pilot local government units include the municipalities of Calatrava, DS Benedicto, Toboso, Valladolid, Hinigaran, Isabela, Cauayan and the cities of Sagay, Talisay and Kabankalan.
The Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office and the Nutrition Center of the Philippines, local replicating agents of HealthPRO assisted the Health Promotion and Communication Project (HealthPRO) of the USAID for the conduct of the training.
HealthPRO is a five-year USAID Philippines project to support health-related behavior change communication (BCC) activities in the country. It is the lead USAID vehicle for providing health promotion and communication technical assistance to Department of Health and local government units.
HealthPRO aims to assist local government units expand and strengthen the quality and sustainability of their BCC efforts. (PIA/cad) [top]
