"Palit Ilaw" program pushed in Bacolod City
Bacolod City (1 February) -- The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed a resolution urging all sectors within Bacolod City to support the "Palit-Ilaw" Program of the Department of Energy.
The "Palit-Ilaw" Program or Switch to Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) from incandescent lamp bulb, is one alternative solution to reduce household energy consumption, help the environment and promote energy efficiency.
Significant savings from this program renders it worthy of support and replication within Bacolod City.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, in her speeches, urged household members to avail themselves of practical power cost saving techniques like the use of CFL instead of ordinary incandescent bulbs.
The President said that there will be large savings on electric bills if households switch to CFL instead of using incandescent bulbs.
She also ordered all govt. agencies to reduce their electricity bill by 10% by switching from incandescent bulb to CFL.
Aside from government offices, the President also instructed concerned agencies to replace existing incandescent lamp with CFL, and use CFL in all highways and major thoroughfares, government hospitals and public places.
There are 13 million CFLs in the country today ready to be distributed nationwide.*(PIA-OPS/cad) [top]
