Comelec conducts massive voters' education, info campaign in Region 8

Tacloban City (February 2) -- The Commission on Elections in Region 8 is now conducting massive voters education and information campaign in the various areas of Eastern Visayas.

This information was provided by Comelec OIC Director Jose Nick Mendros during the Region Eight Administration orientation on the automated elections.

Voters' education campaign was simultaneously conducted on January 25 in Eastern Samar and the whole of Biliran province.

It was also learned that by February 1-14, the same activities will be replicated in the whole province of Leyte for public demonstration in using the PCOS machine and on February 15- 24 and 25 will be in Samar and Northern Samar provinces.

Meanwhile, for the information of the public, Atty. Felicisimo Embalsado has provided the schedule for the province of Leyte.

On February 1, Comelec teams visited the municipalities of Palo, Tolosa and Tanauan, and the City of Tacloban.

On February 2, the Comelec team will conduct orientations in Dulag, Leyte at 7:00 o'clock in the morning; Julita at 10:00 o'clock in the morning; Mayorga at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon and Mayorga at 3:30 in the afternoon.

On February 3, the Comelec will be in Burauen at 7:00 o'clock in the morning; La Paz at 10:00 o'clock in the morning; and in the afternoon, the team will go to Javier at 2:30 and Abuyog at 4:30.

On February 4, the Comelec will conduct orientation at the municipalities of Mahaplag, Baybay City, Inopacan and Hindang at 7:00 o'clock, 10:30 in the morning; 1:00 o'clock; and 3:30 in the afternoon, respectively.

On February 5, the team will conduct the same orientation and demonstration of PCOS machine at the municipalities of Hilongos, Bato, in the morning; and in Matalom at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon.

On Saturday, February 6, the team will be in Sta. Fe, Alangalang, Jaro and Tunga.

On February 8, the voters' education and orientation team will be in San Miguel, Barugo, Carigara and Capoocan while on February 9, the team will be in Kananga, Ormoc City and Albuera.

The team will be in the municipalities of Merida, Isabel, Palompon and Villaba on February 10 while on February 11, the team will be at Matag-ob, Tabango and San Isidro.

On February 12, it will be the turn of Calubian, Leyte and Babatngon and on February 13, the team will be in Pastrana, Tabon and Dagami.

The whole of March, Director Mendros said will be scheduled for the training of the teacher who will be serving during the elections.

"There is no worry for the voters because all they have to do is to shade the oval corresponding the name of the candidates they wish to vote. It is the members of the board of election inspectors who will operate the PCOS machine," Director Mendros assured. (PIA 8) [top]
