Butuan City (2 February) -- Jeremiah, 7, went home very happy that Friday afternoon; clutching in his arms the book given recently by Union Bank for Grade II students at Don Manuel Gutierrez Sr. Elementary School in Matina, Davao City.
"I am very happy, I have my new book," he said in local dialect. He called his friends Ismael and DM as he excitedly scan pages of the book and started coloring some of the activity sketches on the page. In Basilan where Jeremiah came from, seldom do students like him receive nice work books, he disclosed.
What an appropriate gift for the young minds, Union Bank's "As A Filipino: A Gift to the Filipino Child; teaches school children Love of God and country, Filipino values and encourages kids how to become good citizens.
"As A Filipino: A Gift to the Filipino Child", is Union Bank's first commissioned book, that also teaches reading and comprehension aside Filipino values. The book reflects Union Bank's expression of corporate social responsibility as they invest in education for the Filipino young minds, Mr. Justo A. Ortiz, Chairman and CEO of the bank said in its foreword.
"As A Filipino," is authored and illustrated by Davaoeña Mrs. Marcy Dans Lee. (PBSP-MRO) [top]
