Tagalog News: Olivar: Hindi pa natatanggap ng Palasyo ang kopya ng Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2009

Manila (2 February) -- Ipinaliwanag ni Deputy Spokesman Gary Olivar sa isang media briefing kahapon na hindi pa nakarating sa Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang kopya ng Expanded Senior Citizen?s Act of 2009 kung kaya?t hindi makatarungang isisi sa Pangulo ang hindi pagpirma sa bill na ito upang tuuyang maging batas.

Sinabi rin ni Olivar na kapag natanggap na ng Malacaņang ang kopya ng bill, pag-aaralang mabuti ito ng Pangulo at titimbangin ang maaring maging epekto sa ekonomiya.

Ilan sa mga mahahalagang probisyon ng nasabing bill ay ang pag-eexempt sa mga Senior Citizen sa pagbabayad ng 12% Expanded Value Added Tax, pagbibigay ng 20% diskwento sa pagbili ng gamot, bayad sa professional fees tulad ng bayad sa doctor at laboratory fees sa lahat ng medical facilities. May 20% diskwento rin sila sa mga hotel, restaurant at recreation centers.

Ang mga Senior Citizens na tinuturing na minimum wage earners ay hindi pagbabayarin ng individual income tax. Libre din ang vaccination laban sa influenza virus at pneumococcal disease para sa mga "indigent" na Senior Citizens.

Makakatanggap din ng death benefit assistance na P2,000 ang maiiwang pinakamalapit na kamag-anak ng yayaong senior citizen. (PIA 12) [top]
