Voters education program in Samar taps multi-sectoral groups

Catbalogan City (3 February) -- Voters education program in Samar has attaracted a multi-sectoral group for implementation.
In yesterday's meeting of the Samar Partnership for Peace and Development (SPPADE) held at the PNP Samar conference room, the groups offered their services to ?educate' the voters in the nuances of the automated elections.
Comelec Supervisor Atty Corazon Montallana accepted all offers and felt elated and grateful for the act of kindness the SPPADE offered.
Ms Anita Taran, acting provincial agriculturist offered his farmers classes and even volunteered to print 26 tarpaulins for distribution to her municipal agriculturist.
Election messages culled from the Comelec leaflets will be printed in the proposed tarpaulins.
DILG representative Ms. Janice Terrado also offered to tap the barangay assemblies for a special forum on election matters.
Meanwhile, the Association of Resident Ombudsmen. also offered their services for a regionwide dissemination of election matters in the different olleges and universities.
The media not to be outdone offered the services of Radyo ng Bayan DYOG, Paradise FM and other print and radio outlets for the messages and even for a for guesting.
The lady lawyer who heads the comelec in Samar was overwhlemed with gratitude. This is the first time that Montallana will witness elections in Samar.
From the start of the program, until her parting words, Montallana kept repeating "The COMELEC can never do this alone, I need all your help and cooperation."

SSPADE's secretariat is the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Calbayog personified by fr Cesar Aculan while PNP Provincial Director Pancho Hubilla hosted the forum geared towards the development of the province. (PIA-Samar) [top]
