Tagalog News: Reproductive Health Bill hindi tinalakay sa huling dalawang araw na sesyon sa Kongreso

Manila (3 February) -- Sa nalalabing dalawang araw bago i-adjourn ng Kongreso ang sesyon at bigyang daan ang campaign period para sa nalalapit na halalan sa bansa, walang plano ang House of Representatives na pag-usapang muli ang Reproductive Health (RH) Bill, ayon kay Speaker Prospero Nograles.

Aniya, di na nila pag-uusapan sa mababang kapulungan ang nasabing batas dahil ito ay kontrobersyal. Mga non-controversial measures na lang daw ang kanilang tatalakayin sa huling dalawang araw ng sesyon.

Ang House Bill 5043 o ang An Act Providing for a National Policy in Reproductive Health, Responsible Parenthood and Population Development ay kasalukuyan pang pinag-dedebatehan sa plenaryo sa mababang kapulungan.

Ang nasabing batas ay nagsasaad ng mandatory age-appropriate reproductive health education na magsisimula sa Grade. Nakasaad din sa panukalang batas ang pagbili ng mga contraceptives ng state hospitals bilang bahagi ng essential medicines at supply.

Hinihikayat din ng nasabing batas ang paggamit ng natural at artipisyal na contraceptives.

Matatandaang binatikos ng simbahang katoliko ang nasabing batas kung saan binigyan diin ng mga Catholic leaders na ang paggamit ng artificial contraceptives ay immoral. Mas maigi umano na natural family planning methods ang gagamitin ng mga mamamayan. (PIA 12) [top]
