Tagalog News: Suplay ng tuna sa Gensan nababawasan na

Koronadal City (3 February) -- Lunsod ng fishing ban sa Western at Central Pacific, nararamdaman na ngayon ang kabawasan ng suplay ng tuna tulad ng bigeye at yellow fin na binababa sa fish port complex sa General Santos City.

Bago pa ang nasabing pagbabawal ng pangingisda sa ilang bahagi sa Pasipiko, ang babaan ng isda sa Gensan ay maghapong isinasagawa sa fish port. Simula nitong Enero, hindi pa nagtatanghali halos wala ng naghahango ng kanilang huling isda sa nasabing lugar.

Nitong nakaraang buwan tatlong fishing companies sa lungsod ang nagsuspende ng operations dahil naapektuhan ang kanilang suplay ng tuna. Nitong linggo ilang commercial fishers na rin ang napabalitang nagbawas ng bilang fishing boats na pinapalaot.

Matatandaaang simula nitong Enero 1 ng taong kasalukuyan pinagbabawal ng Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) ang pangingisda sa bahagi ng Pasipiko malapit sa Fiji, Indonesia, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, at Palau at sa karagatang pinagigitnaan ng Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Nauru, at Tuvalu.

Sa, paliwanag naman ni Bayani Fredeluces, executive director ng SocSargen Federation of Fishing Associations and Allied Industries, kanyang sinabi na purse seiners o yong gumagamit ng pukot ang apektado ng WCPFC prohibition. Dagdag pa ni Fredeluces, natapos na umano ang pagbabawal sa hook and line fishing o paggamit ng payaw noon pang Agosto at Setyembre ng nakalipas na taon. (PIA 12) [top]
