PIA Press Release

3 BIR-8 district officers get top collections

By Marivic A. Alcober

Tacloban City (3 February) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Regional Office VIII is proud to inform the public that out of the 115 Revenue Districts (RD) nationwide, three of the region's six RDs made it to the top ten.

According to BIR Regional Director, Atty. Alert Alocilja the three Revenue District Officers are: RD#90 in Maasin City headed by Revenue District Officer (RDO) Noemi Pizon who placed 2nd; RD#87 in Catbalogan headed by RDO Rolando Espina who got the 3rd place; and RD#88 of Tacloban City headed by RDO Imelda Cebuano who got the 10th place.

To mark the momentous event, BIR-8 will conduct a motorcade around the city of Tacloban on February 10, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., which is expected to be participated in by BIR regional officials and staff. Likewise, the activity will also be a kick-off for the 2010 Tax Campaign.

Centered on the theme "Making the Public Know", BIR's Tax Campaign aims to disseminate the different programs and projects of the office.

Relative to the event, BIR Revenue Region No. 14 and the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office VIII will be signing a Memorandum of Agreement for purposes of updating the taxpayer's records and for filing purposes.

On the other hand, relative to the forthcoming elections, BIR launched a special tax generating project dubbed as "Uplan Iboto Mo" carrying the slogan "Buwis at Pagbuto, Karapatan at Tungkulin Ko."

The directive requires political candidates, political parties and their contributors for a 5% cut from their payments to their suppliers of campaign related goods, materials and services, which should be remitted to BIR.

To strengthen the project, BIR is currently conducting information dissemination activities and inform concerned parties of the provisions of RR No. 8-2009 and other related issuances. (PIA-8) [top]
