2nd Gawad LIDER nominations extended until February 15

Davao City (4 February) -- Nominations for the 2nd Gawad LIDER (Leadership and Innovations for Development and Reforms in Science Education) is extended to February 15, 2010.

Outstanding individuals or institutions or organizations with sustained exemplary leadership in the field of Science Education and have developed and introduced science and technology-based innovations or inventions can vie for the Gawad. Gawad LIDER award is a program of the Department of Science and Technology's Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).

Gawad LIDER has two categories:

1) Exemplary Leadership Award in two sub-categories: 1) Individual who has implemented a program or project for at least five years; and 2) Institution/Organization that has demonstrated sustained leadership through a project with significant impact on education.

2) Innovation Award (Individual or Institution) for the introduction of science and technology-based innovation that benefits education. An innovation includes the enhancement of existing gadgets, equipment, devices or product or procedure that has resulted in higher efficiency, greater effectiveness, and increased productivity.

Winners for both categories will receive Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (P200,000) each and a medal.

At the preliminary stage, nominees must submit the duly accomplished application and nomination forms as endorsed by head of institution/organization, community leader or individuals.

At the national selection stage, the following are required: letter of qualification; original copies of at least two of the following: clippings of news/articles; internet downloads, pictures, videos, testimonials/written testimonies of 2-3 heads of relevant institution/peer/organization.

Gawad LIDER is a recognition and incentive program of the Science Education Institute-Department of Science and Technology (SEI-DOST).
