19 Zambo Peninsula students pass PSHS scholarship test

Dipolog City (5 February) -- Nineteen graduating elementary school students from Zamboanga Peninsula have passed the scholarship examination last November 7, 2009 given by the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for the year 2010.

According to the DOST, five of the passers come from Pagadian City, followed by Dipolog City with four (4), Zamboanga City with three (3), while Zamboanga del Sur, Dapitan City and Isabela City are tied at fourth with two each, and Zamboanga Sibugay with one passer.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Science and Technology Director Engr. Marcial R. Dahonan said that six (6) of the 166 examinees who took the examination held at the Zamboanga del Norte National High School Main Campus in Dipolog City, successfully passed the said scholarship examination.

They are Andro Raph V. Cardino, Maritoni Charity J. Gayapa, Petreyna Grace P. Macute, Emmanuel Manolo S. Montaņo from the Dipolog City Special Education Center; Vince Kenneth P. Caga-anan from the Dapitan City Central School and Mariale Mitch C. Solatorio from Sulangon Central School of barangay Sulangon, Dapitan City.

Ms. Arsenia C. Zamoras, principal of the Dipolog City Special Education Center personally extended her congratulations to the successful examinees, particularly to Cardino, Gayapa, Macute and Montaņo and their class adviser, Ms. Micherose D. Saladaga of the DCSEC.

The DOST said the PSHS was created for the purpose of providing education highly enriched in science and mathematics to exceptionally gifted Filipino children.

Established in 1963, the school has grown into eight campuses in different locations in the country. (Fons Ruda/pia-zn) [top]
