Roxas City (8 February) -- The 2nd One Visayas One People One Destiny to be hosted by the Capiz provincial government from March 11 to 14 will showcase the Visayas culture, arts, heritage, products and festivals.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been invited by the One Visayas secretariat and is expected to grace the opening rites of the celebration.
The One Visayas was conceptualized by the officials of the Regional Development Councils (RDC) of regions 6, 7 and 8 after agreeing that it is time for Visayans to acknowledge the cultural bond that connects the islands, despite being separated by seawaters.
It is also in support to the President Arroyo's tourism super region development plan for Central Philippines that intends to focus development and investments on tourism related projects.
The tourism belt is composed of Siargao Island of Caraga (Region XIII), Camiguin of Northen Mindanao in Region 10, Visayas and Bicol regions, and Romblon and Palawan in Region 4-B.
The country's super regions was announced by President Gloria Macapagal - Arroyo in her 6th State of the Nation Address (SONA) to group the selected regions by their economic strengths.
The SONA announcement was followed by the massive construction of infrastructure projects such as airports, roll-on-roll-off seaports, and bus terminals, among others. (PIA) [top]
