Tuguegarao City (8 February) -- The newly installed Regional Executive Director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2, Forester Benjamin T. Tumaliuan, has tapped his staff as frontline advocates in the practice and implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM).
Tumaliuan said his aim in his service as the head of the department is to bring the region to the limelight as the top performer in the country by working together and developing a sense of pride, especially in acting as the model in the environmental protection and preservation.
He said, to serve as example of the practices in the proper waste disposal and other aspect of the ESWM implementation, the staff of DENR must live a life of a green multiplier by being a practicing environmentalist.
"Practice proper waste segregation in our office and convince your family, friends and members of the community to do the same. Through this I believe that there will be a multiplier effect up to the grassroots", Tumaliaun said.
Tumaliuan further targeted that through the scheme; the other agencies and offices will surely follow and take part in achieving a green and clean environment.
He further said that they will also post challenge to local officials to seriously implement the provision of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or RA 9003 \, especially in the urban where there are problems on waste disposals.
He also commended the Local Government Units who are strictly implementing the law and those who have introduced excellent innovations to convince the general public to take part to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings, particularly in the proper waste disposals. (Oliver B./PIA 2) [top]
