Timbol lauds Kapalong PNP on anti-drug trafficking efforts

Davao City (9 February) -- Hon. Edgardo L. Timbol of this town, commended the Kapalong Police Station headed by Police Chief Inspector Jimmy P. Palomar for their recent accomplishment particularly for the two successful operations against drug trafficking.

The team led by SPO1 Robert C. Esteva conducted a buy bust operation last January 28, 2010 at exactly 2:30 in the afternoon. The police officers arrested a certain Baldomar Jampon, 40-year-old resident of Barangay Florida, this municipality. The suspect was caught in his possession the 19. 4g marijuana leaves with the two (2) pieces 100-peso bills marked money, which was used in the buy bust operation.

Two days after the arrest of Jampon, another suspect of same offense was apprehended on January 30, 2010 at about 6:01 PM. While a team of Kapalong law enforcers headed by P/I Lito Impas was posting in a COMELEC checkpoint, 21-year old Christopher Celis of Purok Starlite, Camuning, Asuncion, Davao del Norte, riding on a hired motorcycle was caught in possession of five (5) packs dried marijuana kept in his waist. The driver was then released after investigation having found out that he was not an accomplice.

The two arrested suspects were already detained in Davao Norte Provincial Rehabilitation Center (DNPRC) while separate cases of violating section 5, of RA 9165 or " Dangerous Act of 2002," was filed against them.

"Dako akong kalipay sa paningkamot nga gipakita sa atong kapulisan dinhi sa Kapalong. The administration further intensifies the LGU's program against drug abuse. Actually, we are giving incentives and recognition to the police and their assets for such incredible accomplishment," Mayor Edgardo L. Timbol said.

It was indeed a proof that the Timbol-Estrada administration, together with the PNP- Kapalong under Chief Inspector Jimmy Palomar, is determined in fighting against illegal drugs to promote safe and peaceful community.

Furthermore, Timbol is grateful to the police officers for doing their job efficiently, as well as to the barangay leaders and agencies who have been extending their help to curtail or even minimize drug pushers and users.

"Tutulong din ang ating administrasyon sa mga taong gustong magpa-rehabilitate para naman makapagsimula sila ng bagong buhay," Timbol added. (Noneth- MIO Kapalong) [top]
