Search for 2010 IWAG Award on

San Jose, Antique (9 February) -- The search for 2010 IWAG AWARD is on.

Atty. Ma. Janet C. Mesa Regional Director Philippine Information Agency 6 said that the award is a way of giving recognition to the outstanding performance of graduating student writers in Western Visayas especially those who have actively participated in Journalism trainings of PIA.

In Antique nominations forms and guidelines were already given to schools who have active student writers and publications.

Each publication is entitled to one nominee who is bonafide staff member of the school?s official or departmental publication and graduating this school year. He/She must have participated in PIA 6 Basic Journalism Training/Conferences and must obtain an average rating of at least 85% from IWAG AWARD Evaluation Committee of PIA 6.

The nominee must meet all the prescribe criteria in the IWAG AWARD evaluation form as the basis for appraisal, so the data submitted should be complete and accurate.

Criteria for evaluation consists of Articles published ? 35%, Involvement in Community and School activities ? 20%, Academic and Scholastic Achievement ? 15% and other achievements like honors and awards received ? 10%.

The IWAG award is a scheme designed by PIA 6 to give recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication. Since 1977, the Philippine Information Agency has cited student for promoting national development through the campus publication. (PIA) [top]
