Tagalog News: 3,000 checkpoints pinakalat sa buong bansa sa pagsisimula ng campaign period

Manila (10 February) -- Sabay sa pagsisimula ng campaign period para sa May 10, 2010 elections, inilunsad ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang operasyon ng mahigit tatlong libo at limang daang checkpoints sa buong bansa sa layong paigtingin ang seguridad sa panahon ng halalan.

Sinabi ni PNP Chief Director General Jesus Verzosa na sa pamamagitan ng National Task Force Hope 2010, nasa disposal ng PNP ang ilang tactical units na tutulong na pigilan ang banta ng mga partisan armed groups at domestic threat groups at mapagtibay pa ang pagpapatupad ng gun ban.

Kabilang sa mga tactical units na nabanggit ni Verzosa na tutulong sa kanila ang Special Action Force, Regional Public Safety Management Battalions, at Provincial Public Safety and Management Companies na mangunguna sa kampanya para pigilan ang mga balakid sa pagsasagawa ng malinis at matiwasay na halalan.

Pumasok na rin kahapon sa ika-tatlumpong araw ang pagpapatupad ng gun ban.

Sa bilang ng National Election Monitoring and Action Center (NEMAC) umabot na sa pitong daan apatnapu?t tatlo (743) ang naarestong violators sa gun ban.

Kabilang dito ang limampu?t dalawa (52) na pulis, dalawapu?t siyam (29) na sundalo, tatlumpu?t isa (31) na government official, at anim na raan tatlumpu?t isa (631) na sibilyan. (PIA 12) [top]
