Negros Occ. (10 February) -- The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) here said they project losses in various crop productions, including sugarcane, to hit P2.39 billion.

The Department of Agriculture and PAGASA identified Negros Occidental as one of the 23 "highly vulnerable" areas in the country.

At present, the actual damage to crops in five towns and two cities of the province has reached P3.6 million as of Feb 9.

In the city of Himamaylan, damage to rain fed rice is P87,360 while in Kabankalan corn damage reached P162,000.
