Iligan dad lauds Iliganon nurse for being No. 1

Iligan City (10 February) -- Claire Morales Bontol has put Iligan in the list of board topnotchers not only in our country but worldwide in the nursing profession.
Thus expressed Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, this city, during a celebration honoring Claire, at the Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC), her Alma Mater.
We are proud of her as she posted a score of 87.80 percent which astoundingly placed her on top among the 37,000 passers out of the 94,000 examinees throughout the country, said Mayor Cruz.
It is an honor to have Claire, the first placer in the November 2009 nursing licensure examination, thus, the city council of Iligan city will pass a resolution of commendation attributing her achievement at par excellence, Cruz said.
While the IMCC is making history to Iligan, other institution like the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) here in Iligan has also recorded with 86 percent passing rate in this nursing exam results.
Claire Bontol is not the first student of IMCC who made to the top. Jeanna Lou J. Morales ranked 9th in the June 2007 Nursing Licensure Examination.
Claire, 28, born and raised in Iligan, is the only child of Jude Bontol, a retired government employee and Dr. Della Morales Bontol, a well-known obstetrician-gynecologist in Iligan. (PIA LDN) [top]
