Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (February 11) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue(BIR) posted more than P10 million in excess of their 2009 tax collection goal, top officials here bared.
Lawyer Maribel Utit, assistant district revenue officer said the P10,181,728.79 2009 tax collection excess was known after surpassing their tax goal of more than 3.3 million last year with actual tax collection of P348,560,7128.79.
She said they have increased their collection with P52,407,391.52 by the end of 2009 since their collection of some P296,153,337.23 in 2008.
"The factors that contributed to our collection increase are intensified efforts and massive campaign among taxpayers in the province," Utit explained.
According to her, their office has increased their efforts on basic tax sources such as withholding taxes, verification of stock filers and non-stock filers, implementation of the OPLAN Kandado program which prompted voluntary compliance of subjected business establishments, amended tax returns, intensified collection efforts on delinquent accounts and unremitted withholding taxes, tax mapping and tracking of printed receipts through their computerized application scheme among others.
"Hopefully we can do a similar performance this year because we have a good start,? she said, adding that they have already exceeded their January 2009 goal with P5 million collection this year which represents 23 percent over their collections last year.
Utit also appealed to taxpayers to pay their proper taxes on time to avoid penalties and corresponding legal actions. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
