Koronadal City (11 February) -- Finally, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XII nabbed the leader of a notorious drug group operating in the region.
In an anti-drug operation on February 8 PDEA operatives, in cooperation with South Cotabato Provincial Police Office led by Chief Inspector Barney Condes apprehended Wilson Vilbar, leader of the Vilbar Drug Group.
The suspect was caught in the act of selling a sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be metamphetamine hydrochloride also known as shabu to a PDEA undercover agent during a buy-dust operation at Purok Quezon, Barangay Kipalbig, Tampakan, South Cotabato.
The suspect tried to elude arrest and ran towards his house where he was subdued.
Operatives discovered an on-going pot session inside Vilbar?s house leading to the capture of Ferdinand Malinog and Amado Mayor, who were in the act of sniffing shabu.
PDEA Regional Director Rene M. Orbe said, "The arrest of the suspect, who has been in their priority target list as an identified Drug leader, is a manifestation how serious the PDEA XII personnel are in curving the drug problem and help clean the community."
"PDEA XII will not stop in achieving the agency?s vision-mission," he said.
He also commended the strong support and cooperation of the Local Government Units (LGUs), tri-media, the Public Prosecutor?s Office and other law enforcement agencies in Region XII.
During the operation, operatives recovered five sachets containing suspected shabu, four rolled papers containing suspected marijuana dried leaves and other drug paraphernalia and buy-bust money.
PDEA XII is filing cases against the arrested suspects for violation of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PIA 12) [top]
