RP's exports hit a double-digit growth in December 2009

Islamic City of Marawi (11 February)-- The country's export earnings reached a double-digit growth of 23.6% in December 2009 compared from its level last year.

According to preliminary reports of the National Statistics Office (NSO), the exports grew to $3.304 billion from $2.675 billion in December 2008.

Electronic products, representing 56.9% of the total export revenues, remained the country's top export in December 2009. Its total earnings increased to $1.881 billion from $1.335 billion in December 2008.

The US which comprised 19% of the total exports in December 2009 emerged as the country's top export market with revenue amounting to $627.86 million, higher by 9.4% from $573.98 million recorded a year ago.

Japan came in second with export earnings of $507.46 million, up by 10.9% from $457.68 million reported in December 2008.

Other top export markets include Netherlands ($295.24 million), Singapore ($283.19 million), Germany ($245.18 million), People's Republic of China ($234.62 million), Hong Kong ($217.32 million), Republic of Korea ($136.27 million), Thailand ($131.11 million), and Taiwan ($103.72 million).
