Oro dad leads groundbreaking of P3.86-M water reservoir in Indahag

Cagayan de Oro City (11 February) -- CITY Mayor Constantino "Tinnex" Jaraula today led the formal groundbreaking for the construction of the P3.86 million circular ground reservoir in barangay Indahag this city.

The construction of the reservoir aims to address the insufficient water supply in the low-lying eastern side of Cagayan de Oro City, particularly in barangays Macasandig and Camaman-an, Mayor Jaraula said before the capsule-laying ceremonies witnessed by City Hall department heads and officiated by Fr. Gil Escalante.

The project also hopes to cater to the huge water supply demand on the areas as the upper portions of barangays Macasandig and Camaman-an partly covers the mixed-use business and realty development of Ayala Land's 250-hectare prime property.

Noting that the reservoir sits on a highly-elevated area in barangay Indahag, Mayor Jaraula is optimistic that the water supply from the reservoir could even reach up to barangay Bugo, and to as far as Jasaan municipality in Misamis Oriental due to strong gravitational force.

The circular ground reservoir, which measures 3.05 meters below the ground and 6.2 meters above the ground with a size of 13.6 meters in diameter, has a capacity to produce 800 cubic meters of water.

The project's funding comes from the city government's annual share from the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD). (City Information Office) [top]
