DOTC-RMC holds'Ulat sa Bayan' in Iloilo

Iloilo (12 February) -- Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) undersecretary Guiling Mamondiong led the holding of "Ulat sa Bayan" in Iloilo City, February 12, to highlight the accomplishments of the Arroyo Administration for the last nine years.

The "Ulat" was coordinated by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), an agency of the DOTC, which heads the Regional Management Council (RMC) dealing with regional concerns which DOTC cannot cover at a time.

Mamondiong said in his briefing which was primarily attended by the members of the media that it is important for the public to know the major impact accomplishments of the Arroyo Administration which have outdone the previous three administrations of Aquino, Ramos, and Estrada.

He said the "Ulat" is a series being conducted by the team not only to report the government's infra and transport projects which have improved the quality of life of majority of the Filipinos, but also to deal with regional concerns related to operations.

Mamondiong said the RMC is created per geographical region because the DOTC is the only department in the Executive Branch that has no regional offices all over the country.

The agencies which reported on their accomplishments included the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, LTFRB, LTO, Maritime Industry, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority.

These agencies are involved in facilitating convenient access to places through improved land, sea and air travel, efficient service delivery that promoted domestic and foreign tourism, and stimulated economic growth in strategic places.

In capping the media forum, Mamondiong asked the media to help spread the accomplishments of President Arroyo that have surpassed the previous administrations and have delivered much benefits to the Filipinos. (PIA6/ESS) [top]
