Regional Director Urdujah A. Tejada said because of the newly acquired laboratory equipments, the services of DOST has expanded from four to twelve testing services, thus contributing additional income to the treasury of the government.

Asst. Regional Director Amancia Mangusib said included to the services of the RSTL are total acid test, phytochemical screening, total suspended solids, calcium, chloride, alkalinity/acidity, HPC, coliform, E. Coli, plant extract, anti-bacterial activity and crude protein.

"Our laboratories can now perform microbiological tests such as heterotropic or aerobic plate count, coliform count and other microbiological tests to determine the fitness of food products and potability of water for human consumption", Mangusib said.

On the chemical testing, Mangusib informed that the laboratory has capabilities and facilities for proximate analysis of food and feeds, physico-chemical test for water and wastewater, and phytochemical screening plant extracts.
