The half-day gathering provided an update to the business sector in the greater Cagayan de Oro area about the state of the power supply in Mindanao amidst concerns on the impending rotating blackouts as indicated by National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Eugene Bicar of NGCP presented to the local businessmen Mindanao power supply and demand outlook specifically for the manufacturing and industry sector in the region. The participating local stakeholders spearheaded by Oro Chamber will come up with doable short-term measures to cushion the impact of the impending power shortage especially to the manufacturing sector and the other power-intensive industries. Part of the power advocacy is to appeal to government to speed up the repair of the Agus 5 power plant and for Iligan diesel power plant to resume its operations.
