Ifugao provincial government on its way to eradicate poverty

Lagawe, Ifugao (13 February) -- Heeding to the call of the national government to reduce poverty, the Provincial government here institutionalized the Integrated Area Development Assistance Program (IADAP).
Engr. Carmelita Buyuccan, the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) here said that this is the banner program of the provincial government to reduce poverty. "The components include health and nutrition, income and livelihood, Institutional Development and Capacity Building and in 2009 we included Environmental Protection and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation," she said.
Our dream is to have a progressive, peaceful, self reliant, self-propelled and self-sustaining community and people, our commitment as public servants to the people we are pledged to serve, Buyuccan said.
With a budget of P1.4million in 2008 and P350,000.00 in 2009, the program was able to cover 15 barangays in 2008 and 12 barangays in 2009.
The members of the Provincial Technical Working Group are the Ifugao Provincial Health Office, Nutrition Office, Provincial Agriculture Environment and Natural Resources Office (PAENRO), Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Sustainable Development Division and the PPDO.
Buyuccan said that among the accomplishments of the said PTWG were the distribution of 320 plastic bowls to household beneficiaries, food and iron supplements; rehabilitation of pre-schoolers and dispersal of gilts, ducks, goats and roosters to beneficiaries. The members also conducted various trainings on agriculture such as farmer field school fermented feed formulation organic farming and others; and responsible movement sessions to couples and institutionalized program on poverty reduction.
