Benguet approves budget of 3 provincial eco enterprises

by Andrew Doga-ong

La Trinidad, Benguet (13 February) -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has finally approved the P120,807,722.00 Annual Performance Budget of the three economic enterprises of the provincial government saying the budget is needed to further improve the services of these income-generating offices.

The approval of the budget came after the head of the three economic enterprises had an audience with the members of the SP to clarify some items in their respective budgets.

Appropriation Ordinance No.10-002 puts the budget of the Benguet General Hospital Economic Enterprise (BeGHEE) at P112, 414,400.00, Benguet Equipment Services Enterprise at P3,596,980.00 and the Benguet Technical School at P4,796,342.00.

The ordinance stated that the annual budget will fund essential programs, projects and activities of the three economic enterprises to ensure their efficient and effective delivery of basic social services that will uplift the economic well-being of the people of Benguet.

Noting the various vacant positions at the BeGHEE, the SP prodded Dr. Joseph Cabinta, OIC Chief of Hospital to gradually fill up those positions particularly the medical specialist positions. With the increased budget, the SP sees no reason why the unfilled positions will not be filled up.

The SP also urged Cabinta, BESE head Pepito Ganasi, Sr. and BTS School Administrator Flora Manuel to strengthen their respective income generating programs as the provincial government is contemplating on gradually decreasing its subsidy to these economic enterprises to motivate them to provide their own funds.
