Benguet grants mobile phone subsidy to official drivers

by Andrew Doga-ong

La Trinidad, Benguet (13 February) -- To facilitate communication between official drivers and their bosses, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan came up with an ordinance granting mobile phone subsidy to official drivers in the provincial government.

About 25 official drivers whose names appear in the provincial plantilla positions are granted monthly cell phone card subsidy of P300.00 each.

Ordinance No. 010-11 also increases the monthly cell phone card subsidy of the members of the SP from P1,800.00 to P3,600.00 each and the provincial Vice-Governor from P2,000.00 to P4,000.00.

Monthly mobile phone card allowance of the different departments heads of the provincial government are also increased to P3,000.00 from P1,800.00.

The Provincial Governor is not included in the mobile phone card subsidy as his communication expenses is billed in his regular office budget.

The SB said providing cell card allowance to official drivers and increasing the mobile phone card subsidy to provincial officials and heads of offices is for the sake of expediency and for the effective performance of their public functions.

They claimed that the existing cell phone card allowance is not sufficient considering their multifarious functions and their collaborative efforts to their constituents and other officials in the local and national levels.

The mobile card benefits will take effect January 2010. (PIA) [top]
